Belle BWE 150/200/250 Concrete Mixer

The Belle BWE 150/200/250 Concrete Mixers are popular for their durability and performance in construction projects, but like any machinery, they can encounter issues. Here are some common problems, their causes, and solutions:

1. Engine Won’t Start

Causes:

  • Fuel Issues: Insufficient fuel or stale fuel.
  • Battery Issues (for electric models): Dead or faulty battery.
  • Spark Plug Issues: Worn or faulty spark plug.
  • Fuel Filter: Clogged fuel filter or line.

Solutions:

  • Ensure there is enough fresh fuel in the tank.
  • Check and replace the battery if it’s weak or dead.
  • Inspect and clean or replace the spark plug.
  • Clean or replace the fuel filter.

2. Mixer Drum Not Turning

Causes:

  • Clogged or Jammed Mechanism: Concrete build-up or debris inside the drum.
  • Motor Failure: If using an electric model, a motor failure could prevent movement.
  • Broken Gearbox or Drive Belt: Mechanical failure can occur in the gearbox or the drive belt.

Solutions:

  • Clean out any concrete build-up or debris that could be obstructing the mechanism.
  • Check the motor for any signs of malfunction (electric models), and replace if necessary.
  • Inspect and replace the gearbox or drive belt if broken or worn out.

3. Excessive Vibrations

Causes:

  • Imbalance in the Drum: Unevenly distributed concrete or damage to the drum.
  • Loose Parts: Bolts, nuts, or other parts are not secured properly.
  • Worn Bearings: Bearings that support the drum may be worn out.

Solutions:

  • Ensure the load is evenly distributed inside the drum.
  • Tighten any loose bolts or components.
  • Check the bearings and replace them if they’re worn or damaged.

4. Poor Mixing Performance

Causes:

  • Insufficient Water or Mix Ratio: Incorrect mix ratio of concrete.
  • Worn or Damaged Mixing Paddles: If the paddles are worn or broken, they won’t mix effectively.
  • Clogged Mixing Drum: The drum may have hardened concrete build-up inside.

Solutions:

  • Check the water and cement mix ratio, adjusting it as needed.
  • Inspect and replace the mixing paddles if they are worn out or damaged.
  • Clean the inside of the drum thoroughly to remove hardened concrete.

5. Overheating of Engine

Causes:

  • Lack of Lubrication: Insufficient oil or lack of proper maintenance on the engine.
  • Overloading: Running the mixer with too much concrete or at too high a speed.
  • Dirty Air Filter: Clogged air filter causing poor engine cooling.

Solutions:

  • Check the oil level and quality, and replace it if necessary.
  • Avoid overloading the mixer and allow it to cool down if it gets too hot.
  • Clean or replace the air filter to ensure proper airflow.

6. Electrical Problems (For Electric Models)

Causes:

  • Faulty Wiring: Loose or damaged electrical wiring.
  • Tripped Circuit: The electrical circuit may have been tripped.
  • Damaged Switch or Motor: The power switch or motor may be faulty.

Solutions:

  • Inspect and repair or replace any faulty wiring.
  • Reset the circuit breaker or check the fuse.
  • Replace the damaged switch or motor.

7. Leaks in the Drum or Water Tank

Causes:

  • Cracked Drum: The drum may develop cracks due to wear and tear.
  • Damaged Seals: Seals on the drum or water tank may degrade over time.

Solutions:

  • Inspect the drum for cracks and replace if necessary.
  • Replace the damaged seals to prevent leaks.

8. Difficulty in Tilting the Drum

Causes:

  • Hydraulic Failure (for models with hydraulic tilting): Low hydraulic fluid or damaged hydraulic pump.
  • Stiff Mechanism: Rust or debris blocking the tilting mechanism.

Solutions:

  • Check the hydraulic fluid level and refill if low. If the pump is damaged, it may need to be replaced.
  • Clean and lubricate the tilting mechanism to ensure smooth movement.

Regular maintenance is essential to prevent these issues from recurring. Always follow the manufacturer’s maintenance guidelines and keep the equipment clean to ensure optimal performance. If these solutions don’t resolve your issues, consider consulting the manufacturer’s manual or reaching out to a repair technician – That’s us!

Spares & parts bibliography

For all spares and parts we recommend our sister company – HTS Spares

Spoke to Jeremy at HTS Plant on Monday morning about a generator they had in stock agreed a deal, arrived onsite Tuesday lunchtime "excellent service" Hard to find likeminded honest genuine company’s these days HTS are spot on. Jeremy even took the time to phone making sure everything was ok.
